The Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has confiscated around 190 thousand square meters of land in the area known as Lalez Bay in the Adriatic Coast, which is suspected of having been appropriated through abusive means.
SPAK had officially started a criminal proceeding in May 2020, after which they launched an investigation over property abuse in one of the most sought-after areas in the Albanian coast.
In the framework of this operation, SPAK executed search warrants in 7 privately owned properties, some of which were registered in the names of several former public employees of the Durres Cadaster, who are also being accused of alleged involvement in this property scandal.
Referring to sources near the Special Prosecution, Euronews Albania learned that so far, no one involved in this case hasn’t been arrested or taken into custody but investigations are still underway.
