Greece has been gripped today by a nationwide 24-hour strike that has paralyzed activity across the country, including Athens, Thessaloniki, and other major cities. The strike was called by the General Confederation of Workers of the Private Sector (GSEE) and the Confederation of Public Administration (ADEDY), supported by dozens of unions, federations, and organizations from both sectors.

Among the main demands of the strikers are wage increases, the reinstatement of the 13th and 14th salaries, and the reestablishment of collective labor contracts. Protesters have also raised their voices against the rising cost of living, high inflation, and the housing crisis affecting a large portion of the population.

As a result of the strike, transportation in many areas has been completely suspended. Ships have stopped at ports, and air transport is nearly completely blocked. The Civil Aviation Authority announced that all flights have been canceled, including those between Greece and Albania. Only emergency and essential flights will be permitted. The Tirana International Airport has also confirmed on its official website that all flights to Athens have been canceled.

The strike has also affected the education sector. Teachers, professors, and students have joined the protests, demanding better conditions in the education system and opposing plans to establish private universities. Students also voiced concerns about high tuition fees and the lack of financial security during their studies.

According to authorities, six people have been arrested during the protests so far, and union movements are expected to continue in the coming days if their demands are not addressed by the government.
