Suspected Iranian agent sent to court for spying on Mujahedin

SPAK has closed in on an investigation into an Iranian citizen accused of terrorist activities.

Bijan Pooladrag is suspected to have spied on the Mujahedin sheltered in Albania.

The investigation commenced in 2019, and according to SPAK the man carrying out espionage activities at the service of Iran’s intelligence.

Allegedly Pooladrag wiretapped phones and computers in Albania for the Iranian regime.

He was expelled from the mujahedin in September 2019.

This is not the first time that a similar occurrence takes place on Albanian soil, but a majority have been caught and sent to Iran.

In March 2018, Albanian authorities prevented a planned terrorist attack ordered from Iran.

At the time, the Albanian government expelled two Iranian diplomats, including the ambassador, and accused them of being a threat to national security.

Accordingly, they had planned a terrorist attack at a football match between Albania and Israel.

The move was also commended by former US President Donald Trump.

Some 3,000 Iranian mujahedin are sheltered in Ashraf 3 camp, near Durres.

Albania decided to take them in following a deal with the United States.
