With the authorization of the Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica, the former Minister of Local Government Administration, Adriana Hoxhiç, was interviewed on Thursday by the Department of Economic Crimes.

The investigations are related to allegations of illegal employment during the period of local government of the municipality of North Mitrovica, at the time when Hoxhic was the deputy mayor of this municipality until May 2022.

Her lawyer, Musa Damati, confirmed for KosovaPress that his client was released immediately after the interview.

According to him, there is not a single piece of evidence that would prove the involvement of his client in the criminal offense related to abuse of office or official authority.

He said that his client is completely innocent and that this whole investigation is only about political spectacle, while emphasizing the fact that Mrs. Hoxhiç has been the target of political attacks for a long time.

“There is not a single piece of evidence through which actions could eventually be formulated that would create the special figure of the criminal offense related to abuse of office or official authority. My client is completely innocent, and at the same time she has been the target of political attacks for a long time. This whole investigation is about a political spectacle and we will be able to prove my client’s innocence very soon”, Damati told KosovaPress.

KosovaPress sources within the police inform that the investigations are complex and started about two years ago against some former municipal officials of North Mitrovica, a number of whom were interviewed today by the Department of Economic Crimes, while the interviewing of other former officials will continue tomorrow.
