ext year will commence with a series of changes to our fiscal package. Salaries, powdered milk and gas, will all be taxed at a different rate starting from January 2022.
Minister of finance, Delina Ibrahimaj has presented the Economy Commission with four draft bills. Initially, she started with a reconsideration of the income tax.
“The untaxable flat income rate will go up, from 30 thousand Lek to 40 thousand per month. For this income interval, taxation will be set at 0%. Around 71 thousand and 500 citizens will benefit from these new changes, by an overall 557 million Lek per year. The 23% tax will start to be applied to all salaries that exceed 200 thousand Lek per month – a change from the current 150 thousand Lek,” – said the minister.
In the agricultural sector, the government is proposing to lift the 6% tax on farmers, whereas, in order to protect local produce, they are planning to impose a tax on all imports of powdered milk.
“The draft bill plans to impose a tax of 100 Lek per kilogram, for all imports of powdered milk and its byproducts,” – said Ibrahimaj.
Meanwhile, the Albanian government is proposing to unify the excise for all gas used in cars as well as the gas used in heating and other avenues, by bringing it down to a fixed rate of 6 Lek per liter.
At the moment, the excise for this byproduct is set at 8 Lek per liter, when used as fuel for vehicles, and 0 Lek per liter, when used by other consumers.
