SPAK’s month-long investigations following charges pressed by the Democratic Party in April 2020 have reached former Minister of Defense, Olta Xhacka.

The Special Prosecution Office interrogated the former minister back in December, regarding protocols followed in tenders related to the food provisions for low-income families as well as the army’s COVID-19 protective gear.

The DP has also pressed charges against the members of the Bid Evaluation Commission, who have been previously asked to testify on their position as well.

The Democratic Party has also filed charges against the winning commercial companies for corruption and violating the tender’s equality of opportunity.

Representatives from the Special Prosecutions Office have reported that the DP’s claims, as well as the associated individuals’ statements, are part of an ongoing investigation that will verify the presence of possible elements of criminal abuse.

Not long ago, the Democratic Party filed another police report against former Minister of Defense, Olta Xhacka as well as the authorities of the national air force for allegedly using the army’s helicopter for the political campaign of the Socialist Party.
