Journalist Artan Hoxha said during Euronews Albania’s “NOW with Erla Mehilli” that there is organized crime in Albania because there is no headquarters, which according to him has both positive and negative aspects to it.
Hoxha said that the problem lies in the fact that Albanian crime cannot create a mega-structure that is large and successful for them.
“If an Albanian criminal organization from the south of Albania attacks today in Palermo, after a month there will be another group that will come from the north of Albania, from another city because we have no headquarters, no head, we have no commission, we only have horizontal crime,” explained the journalist, thus drawing a comparison between the vertical hierarchical style of the mafia cartels elsewhere around the world and the so-called ‘horizontal crime’ in our country.
Moreover, Hoxha added that he had once described the Habilaj group as the “Laberia” group because they operated in that area and despite the fact that they threatened the security of the country by turning off the radars, it was still not about the most dangerous group operating in the south of Albania.
