Daniel Nikolla, representative of the diaspora for free Albania, who has been living and working in Great Britain for a long time, says that the stigma created around being Albanian in this country is very disturbing.

In an interview for Euronews Albania, Nikola said that this affects many Albanians who live through honest work in any country.

He recounted an awkward moment in the office when the radio gave the news about the Albanian immigrants coming to Britain on rafts and in a second moment a song by Rita Ora or Dua Lipa was heard.

“There was this news about Albania and among them were the songs of Albanian singers Rita Ora, Dua Lipa and Bebe Rexha, and a strange situation was created in the office as it was a big contrast, even for those of our colleagues who understand the current situation all too. The thing that we as Albanians must focus on, apart from protecting our rights in the British public, we must also look at what causes this mass departure in Albania”, urged Nikolla.

According to him, the fact that we have reached a point where Albanians, 2 and a half hours by plane from London, risk their lives by taking a boat or riding under a truck, shows how difficult the situation actually is.
