There is currently a third group within the Democratic Party that doesn’t see themselves as part of Sali Berisha’s camp or Lulzim Basha’s, said the member of DP’s National Council, Besnik Aliaj, on Euronews Albania.
Aliaj also stated that there needs to be more communication within DP, instead of more conflict and aggressive discourse.
“Instead of more debating, what we need is communication. We should be entering into verbal confrontations of ideas, not physical ones. I see the aggressive language used by both sides with skepticism,” – he said.
In addition, Aliaj said that the way that things have unraveled recently within DP, there will need to be another poll.
The clash between Basha and Berisha began back in 2017 because DP’s leadership lacked transparency.
“Decisions were made last minute, implicitly and after meetings behind closed doors with representatives of the ruling Socialist Party,” – said Aliaj, adding that DP should be open to new figures.
