The head of the Agrarian Environmentalist Party, Agron Duka, said in an interview for Euronews Albania that the law on opening the former State Security files (active during the communist regime) will not have a positive outcome for Albania.
In addition, he said that he is against the opening of the files of the former State Security as this is only being requested because of a hidden interest that the ruling majority has at the moment.
“I do not come from the class of the politically persecuted. My father was a communist. No one called us over to do any kind of espionage. People who had been persecuted were the ones who were ‘hunted’ the most in this regard. I know cases of those who were threatened to become an associate of State Security. They took him and threatened to rape his family members, and thus they forced him to become a spy. Or there were also people who were tortured and forced to become State Security spies through force”, said Agron Duka.
