Serbian PM Ana Brnabić called the current anti-smuggling operation being carried out by the police in northern Kosovo that was accompanied by high tensions and a clash between cops and citizens, ‘a behavior that’s exceed all limits’.

Through a post on social media, Brnabic also called on NATO and the international community to intervene ‘urgently’ in order to put a stop to what she called the “crazy politics of Prishtina”.

“I call on the international community, NATO and KFOR to react urgently and stop Albin Kurti. The situation is more than dramatic and this is the last moment in which a clear reaction is necessary in order to stop the crazy politics pursued by Prishtina. “This kind of behavior has exceeded every limit and brings us to the brink of chaos,” said Brnabic.

Today’s anti-smuggling operation led by police officers in northern Kosovo was met with the opposition of dozens of Serbian citizens living in the region. The situation escalated after officers began to serve a search warrant at several Serbian-owned pharmacies. Swarms of local residents plunged into the pharmacies, hitting the officers with heavy equipment and burning down several vehicles carrying registration plates from the Republic of Kosovo.
