Sali Berisha thanked all citizens who went out to vote in the local elections.

In a press conference after the closing of the voting process, Berisha said that the turnout was higher than what is being reported by those who “are doing everything to hinder the process”.

“The courage, decisiveness and responsibility of the citizens today was epic. Turnout was not what the desperate want to minimize, those who are doing everything against this process. It was one of the most dignified turnouts from citizens all over the country. I have the highest regard, a boundless gratitude for all those youngsters, men and women, who were in charge of the voting commissions. They faced pressure and unacceptable intimidation, but they honorably exercised a higher duty towards the citizens,” declared Berisha.
