Contact had been lost with the two foreign tourists since yesterday night in the famous and beloved northern region of Valbona, but they have fortunately just been found by the police.
The tourists from Sweden and Russia couldn’t be reached because their batteries had died and as a result, their phones were turned off.
When they lost contact, the tourists were exploring the area of Valbona and had then planned to move on to exploring the touristic destination of Theth.
After receiving this information, the Police Department of Tropoja had mobilized and a group of alpinists was put in charge of their rescue plan, an operation, which was fortunately completed with success.
Local authorities announced that the tourists were found in the area known as ‘Lugu I Valit’ and were in good health conditions.
A few days ago, another tourist from Switzerland was stranded in the Alps and then rescued by three local alpinists after having gone the wrong way during a hike in the Albanian Alps.
The route from Valbona to Theth stretches for around 14 kilometers and reaches up to 800 meters above sea level.
