U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Nancy VanHorn held a meeting this Wednesday with the newly enthroned Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania, Joan Pelushi.

In a post on the platform X, the U.S. Embassy in Albania announced that, in addition to extending congratulations for his new role as leader of the Albanian Orthodox Community, VanHorn also discussed with the Archbishop the critical role of religious communities and the importance of continuing Albania’s rich history of interfaith harmony.

“Chargé d’Affaires Nancy VanHorn met today with the newly enthroned Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania Joan Pelushi to extend her congratulations on his new role as the leader of the Albanian Orthodox Community. They discussed the critical role of religious communities and the importance of continuing Albania’s rich tradition of interfaith harmony,” the U.S. Embassy wrote in its post.
