The position of Ukraine in relation to the independence of Kosovo is not expected to change.
At least this is what the Ambassador of Ukraine in Belgrade, Volodymyr Tolkach, said during a meeting with the Speaker of the Assembly of Serbia, Vladimir Orlić.
According to the communiqué issued by the Assembly of Serbia, it is said that “Ambassador Tolkach confirmed that Ukraine’s position on the issue of Kosovo will not change”, writes KlanKosova.
“Our two countries have the difficult task of protecting the principles of public international law. We are aware that the situation in Kosovo is not easy and we will continue to offer strong support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of your country. The principles should be applied equally to everyone and as Serbian officials point out, when we protect our integrity, we protect it for others as well,” said Tolkach.
On this occasion, Orlić thanked Ukraine “for its principled stance on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia” and declared that “Serbia defends respect for public international law and full respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all UN member states.”
“Unfortunately, we know that there are those who defend the principles of international law with their words, but openly violate them, as in the example of Kosovo”, he said and added that “Prishtina is once again trying to threaten peace with one-sided and dangerous movements”.
