The Government of Kosovo has ratified that concept-document for the confiscation of unexplained wealth.
This concept-document is projected to have a new legal mechanism concerning cases of this nature.
According to PM Kurti, until the vetting process on the justice system can start operating, we should act, which is why we are bringing in a new law that can help overcome all obstacles for the battle against criminality.
According to Kurti, some states of the European Union, like Ireland, Slovenia, Germany and Italy as well as the UK, have given this issue a similar solution.
The basis of the concept-document, is the creation of the opportunity to confiscate the illegal wealth without a punishment act, therefore the confiscation would take place through a civil procedure, which could be initiated even with a lack of a punishing judgment.
This paves the way so that after the confiscation of unexplained wealth, the suspect can be criminally prosecuted.
