During an ongoing opposition protest, several MPs from the Democratic Party have refused to speak on camera with Euronews Albania, despite the media outlet’s presence to cover the demonstration. In an unprecedented act, while attending the protest to report and highlight the concerns of the Democrats, journalists were confronted by political figures and protest participants.
The first to react was Democratic MP Edi Paloka, who asked journalist Sara Demushi not to interview him and even requested that the camera be removed. Following him, Aldo Bumçi responded similarly, saying he had not been asked whether he wanted to speak to Euronews Albania and therefore declined the interview.
After their reactions, tensions escalated as some protesters attempted to block the Euronews Albania camera and even insulted the journalist, who was approaching to better understand and report their concerns.
Additionally, Klevis Balliu displayed a dismissive attitude toward journalist Sara Demushi, telling her she could stay at the protest but could not approach citizens—despite the fact that it was protesters themselves who demanded the cameras be removed.
