The Ambassador of the United States to Albania, Yuri Kim, visited today Elbasan to meet with the political executives of the Socialist and Democratic Parties in this county.
Reportedly, Ambassador Kim will have two separate meetings, one with SP’s Taulant Balla and another with the Democratic candidate Gazment Bardhi.
Kim’s visit to Elbasan comes after parties officially published their list of candidates seeking to win a term in the Albanian Assembly.
The race to win the mandate for Elbasan is expected to be a tough one, considering tensions in the past.
The US Ambassador has continuously called on political parties to exclude incriminated individuals from running in the elections, adding that party leaders will “be held accountable” for their lists.
On the other hand, the Central Election Commission has already started to verify the candidates.
