The Venice Commission approved on Friday the final opinion on whether to grant the extension of vetting bodies in Albania.

Venice supports extending the term of the Independent Qualification Commission and public commissioners until 31 December 2024.

The Albanian Assembly addressed the issue to the Venice Commission a few weeks ago.

The Democratic Party has not taken an official stance on the matter although their votes are needed in order to adopt the changes allowing to extend the term.
