Vetting process sacked over 190 judges, prosecutors in 4 years

The first instance commission, one of the two institutions tasked to carry out the vetting process, issued 513 orders against judges and prosecutors in a 4-year time span.

199 prosecutors and judges were reinstated in their duties meanwhile, another 191 were discharged.

Some others decided to walk out even before going through the lenses of the vetting.

78 judges and prosecutors resigned before the vetting, in addition to another 8 magistrates who also chose to skip the process and consequently renounced from their posts.

The process terminated for 35 judges and prosecutors after they had reached the age of retirement.

In four years, the Independent Qualification Commission (KPK) ordered the suspension from the office of two magistrates.

Some weeks ago, the ruling majority ago and the opposition, voted to extend by two years the mandate of the vetting bodies, including here KPK.

Another 300 magistrates are still subject to vetting, in order for the process to be considered closed.
