46 citizens from North Macedonia, the majority of whom of Albanian ethnicity, were declared dead after a tragic accident in western Bulgaria, the highway of Struma.
North Macedonia’s PM, Zoran Zaev, who has immediately traveled to Bulgaria following news of the accident, has stated for the local press that the victims were all young, ranging from 25-30 years old, amongst them underage children as well.
North Macedonia’s head of state also noted that they have complete trust in Bulgarian authorities and won’t be asking for a parallel investigation.
“We trust our Bulgarian colleagues. If they need our help, we are here to help them in the investigation. As of right now, the most important thing is to see how we can help the victims,” – said Zaev.
Albanian state leaders and other political figures have shared their condolences and made mention of this tragic accident taking the lives of so many young ethnic Albanians.
