The citizens of Vlora feel insecure about the quality of the food they consume. They say that the markets have a lack of hygiene, while in the markets they are faced with expired products.
“We don’t have security at all, to be safe when I’m in Italy, I buy food from there.”
“Here is no control at all”
“To increase controls in the market because it is a serious problem for our health, because we are very suspicious of what we eat”
“Decent job? They are not doing their job fully, as long as there are foods whose expiration dates are hidden”
The Food Control Authority (AKU) has found violations in some of the entities and fined them.
“It is worth mentioning for the citizens that the AKU deals with the part of the entities that are registered in the NRC, the food that is marketed on the street, it is good to address, an annual figure of 1300 counseling measures and 40 fine measures. I invite the citizens to report the cases so that we can follow them,” said Ani Binaj, director of AKU.
During last year’s tourist season in Vlora, there were several cases of mass food poisoning, the result of products traded under the sun in the absence of trading conditions.
