Voltana Ademi has pulled out of the race for the Shkodra City Hall.
The incumbent mayor of Shkodra will not compete in the local by-elections, although she previously declared that she was ready to run for another term.
Recently, she sided with former premier Sali Berisha’s faction.
Euronews Albania tried to reach out to Ademi, but did not receive any response as of the publication of this article.
Earlier on, another candidate, Lorenc Luka, withdrew from the race for unknown reasons.
On Sunday, the provisional committee led by Berisha will hold the primaries for the new candidates. Bardh Spahia appears to be a favorite so far. Another name that has been proposed is university professor Irena Shestani.
It also remains unknown which banner will these candidates pick.
On the other side, Lulzim Basha has not made any move. Euronews Albania correspondent in Shkodra has learned that Xhemal Bushati and the current leader of DP’s branch in Shkodra, Xhevdet Amuli, will run for the Democratic Party.
The ruling Socialists picked Majlinda Angoni as its candidate for Shkodra.
