The voting process during the 2021 local elections in North Macedonia got off to a good start but has been running into technical problems with the biometric identification tool.
Issues have kept coming up in various communes, including Tetovo. Several communal councils have also faced issues with putting these devices to work and many citizens couldn’t be verified by the system.
After all these issues that have been coming up since the beginning of Election Day, citizens say that they’re expecting to see changes, predominantly in the social and economic aspects.
Citizens of North Macedonia headed to the ballot boxes today, to vote on their new 80 commune mayors and communal councils.
Health protocols have been put in place so that anti-COVID measures can be respected during the elections. Protective face masks, social distancing and disinfection are only some of the base criteria.
