Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is set to announce this Wednesday whether he will attend the high-level Conference on the Western Balkans in Brussels, reported Serbian state news agency Tanjug.
According to a statement released by the President’s Office, Vucic is still consulting his decision with members of his cabinet and close associates.
Vucic told EU Foreign Police chief Josep Borrell that he will talk to the Prime Ministers of Albania and North Macedonia, before taking a joint decision.
The high-level Conference on the Western Balkans will take place on 23 June 2022 in Brussels, and coincides with the second day of the planned session of the European Council on 23-24 June.
The bloc had promised to open accession negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia by the end of 2020, but Sofia’s veto on Skopje over a history dispute has stalled all progress.
