Police have arrested a Turkish citizen who had escaped a Turkish prison after being sentenced to 21 years in prison on charges of fraud and identity theft.

Salih Akkurt, 42, a resident of Konya, Turkey, was declared an international fugitive. After the National Interpol Center in Tirana was informed by Interpol Ankara that this citizen could be found in Albania, the Pogradec Police were able to identify and put him under detention.

During a physical checkup, police officers were able to find and confiscate signed checks amounting to large sums of money.
