Member of the Technical Committee of Experts, Alban Ylli told Euronews Albania that it shouldn’t be a surprise, if in the future, the government decides to increase the number of categories of citizens that will be obligated to get the vaccine.
“There are no official statements yet, regarding the addition of more groups, but we are closely following what is happening in the western world. And what is happening there, is that they are pushing back the age requirements and scaling up the categories of those that will be obligated to get a vaccine, while making efforts to add even more groups. It wouldn’t be a surprise if we start discussing about this added level of risk in Albania also,” – said the doctor.
Ylli also touched on the fact that the main factor contributing to the immunity of 73% of our population is the vaccine.
“By now, we have a better understanding of the real portion of the population that is entirely unarmed and more at risk in Albania, which is why I continue to push my recommendation that the massive vaccination of the Albanian population needs to continue with intensity,” – added Ylli.
“We have to administer at least another 500 thousand vaccines within fall,” said Ylli.
The doctor also recommended that a third dose might be necessary in our country by the end of September.
