Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced on Wednesday plans on setting up a joint commission with Montenegro tasked to review the demarcation line between the two countries.

Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovice expressed his readiness as well, Kurti said during his parliamentary address.

“Documentation is clear on our side, as far as I know, local experts have already worked in that direction. What matters to us is that President Djukanovic is willing to go over this matter”.

“I think the government of Montenegro will reflect on it, it’s a new government there. Kosovo knows there’s been a lot of hesitation for a revision of the 2015-2016 period, a time when the Montenegrin side was willing. While our government has always opposed the signed version”, said the head of the government of Kosovo.

On 21 March 2018, Montenegro and Kosovo ratified the demarcation agreement.

Vetevendosje (Self Determination Movement), led by Kurti at the time in opposition, was against the ratification, warning that Kosovo had lost 8,000 hectares of land.
