The Dutch Ambassador to Albania was today in Shkodra to attend an exhibition organized by students.
Asked by the media over Albania’s integration to the EU, Ambassador Guusje Korthals Altes said that the country is awaiting the EU Commission’s progress report on Albania which will determine thereafter the stance of the Netherlands.
“At the moment, Netherlands is studying the report sent by the EU Commission on Albania’s progress”, the ambassador said.
The Dutch ambassador also spoke about the issue of human trafficking.
“I hope that we continue to find ways to talk and keep an open discussion on the human trafficking issue as well as to intercept the signals because it is imperative that girls and women that are victims of trafficking are heard”, she added.
Ambassador Altes emphasized that this is not only a matter of the victims but also it is the community’s responsibility to admit and address the ongoing phenomenon.
