Bachelors’ teaching degrees in chemistry, physics, philosophy and history have seen a decline in applications by 20%, mainly because the average to get in is between 7 and 7.5.
“The mechanism by which a good high school graduate becomes a good teacher required a higher average requirement, and this has led to a decline in the number of applicants. The average is subjective, however, it penalizes the number of students that get admitted,” – said the Dean of the University of Tirana, Artan Hoxha.
In addition, Russian and Greek language programs risk shutting down in the next academic year. During the first stage of applications, there were no students applying to get a degree in the Greek language, and only 1 student applied to the Russian language program.
The degrees that received more applications than the previous year were as follows:
- Finance
- Law
- Economic Information Technology
- Business Administration
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
