The ministry of tourism and environment has debunked the recent news on an alleged technical proposal/memorandum that presupposes that water from the Blue Eye stream will be used to supply the Greek Island of Corfu.
Through a post on their social media account, the ministry of environment and tourism stated that there has been no such agreement, nor have there been discussions for a project of this kind, or one similar to it.
“These claims are untrue. The Blue Eye is considered a natural gem for Albania, which following the decisions made in January 2022, has received the highest status of natural protection and conservation – that of the National Park – with a total surface area of 293 hectares. This has been done in order to better protect the Monument of Nature which is found within the park – the Blue Eye water stream,” – stated the ministry in their reaction.
