During the World Cleanup Day, the youth of Koca showcased their drive and ability to take initiative when it comes to environmental issues and simply having a more sustainable lifestyle.
Numerous neighbors in the Shen Triadha borough in Korca got together in a cleaning mission that turned their whole neighborhood from bleak to sleek.
Tomor Hoxha is the name of the forerunner that took it upon himself to transform his living space. Even though he is currently out of a job, he made use of his savings and found support in some of his neighbors in order to make this happen.
“I am the kind of person that likes hygiene, which is why I decided to make my neighborhood as beautiful as possible. This is the third year we do this. I try to change it because I don’t like things to stay the same. Some of us neighbors pitched in and began this with our own savings. If the municipality would be able to assist us with two benches, that’s all we need, so we can at least have a place to sit. Maybe, they can help us,” – said Hoxha.
Another neighbor, an ex-military, told Euronews Albania that everyone passing by their neighborhood are pleasantly surprised.
“It is true. All of us in our apartment building, have gotten together and are keeping our living space as clean and beautiful as it can be, for our children and the entire neighborhood,” – he said.
