1 in 3 families in Albania has at least one form of debt.
More than half of them, have loaned from their family members, whereas others have taken out a loan from a bank or other financial institution.
In the poll conducted by the Bank of Albania, more than 2.200 people were interviewed across the country.
Consumer debt is mainly used for home furniture and other appliances, but many have taken out loans in order to cover for their basic expenses and healthcare needs.
The poll also showed that the greatest number of those who have debt are employed, but there are also senior citizens amongst them as well.
Data showed that in recent years, Albanians are relying less on their family members for debt and heading to banks to solve their financial hurdles.
