23 years ago on this day, Serbian forces massacred 243 civilians and burned down 893 homes in what is known today as the Krushe e Madhe Massacre.

The event marks one of the worst atrocities committed by Serbian forces during the Kosovo War, with many civilians still left unaccounted for.

The Krusha Massacre was part of the indictment against former Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic, and some of his accomplices.

However, to this day no one has been charged in connection to the massacre in the village of Krushe e Madhe.

The day also serves to commemorate the martyrs that fell in the villages Fortese, Brestoc, and Celine in the municipality of Rahovec.

In 1999, Serbian forces killed 69 people in Fortese, 54 in Brestoc and 75 in Celine.
