It’s been 30 years since the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) launched its mission in Albania. During an event, that was also attended by PM Edi Rama, the permanent representative of UNDP in Albania, Limya Eltayeb, said that:
“Since the beginning, UNDP’s mission was clear: to support Albania in its social, democratic, economic and humane development”.
Over the course of 3 decades, UNDP has been funding and supporting many projects in the Albanian local and central governments.
“The program has been present during all of the most critical and key moments of this remarkable process of transformation, our country has gone through – going from a completely sealed up dictatorship to a democracy in the making,” – said Rama.
Internet propagation, territorial reform, cleaning and protecting the environment, offering protection for marginalized groups, gender equality, and justice, are only some of the areas where UNDP-funded projects have been focused on in Albania.
