Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama appealed to the Albanian community in North Macedonia to register in the census taking place in the neighboring country.
“Today marks one of those days, that you, as citizens of North Macedonia, where none of you, not a single one, wherever they may reside, shouldn’t miss the registration of the population”, said the head of the Albania executive in a video posted on his official Facebook account.
Rama said that the whole process only lasts 5 minutes and that no one should hesitate.
“You know better than anyone else, that the constitutional power of the Albanian people in the decision-making process of the republic depends largely on the number of Albanian citizens registered”, added Rama.
The census in North Macedonia has been going on for several weeks and until now over 130.000 citizens from the diaspora have registered.
In regards to the local population, the registration process will commence on the 1 of April and authorities have warned that those who refuse will be fined €300.
