In a meeting with officials from the Democratic Party in Durres, chairman Lulzim Basha reiterated that the parliamentary polls were “an electoral massacre” and that “the will of the people has been altered”.
Basha said that the DP will “never recognize the election results” and emphasized that this will be a new test for the new justice institutions, adding that the Democrats have submitted concrete proof that shows that the elections “are invalid in 9 counties”.
“For over a year, we’ve put to the disposal of international institutions, and the new justice institutions, concrete facts that show all the violations and electoral offenses conducted by the Socialist Party and Edi Rama as well as individuals tied to organized crime. There are 180 complaints deposited to SPAK and regional prosecutions across the country”.
He also responded to critics demanding that he step down from party leader describing them as “constructive criticism”, and recalled that the chairmanship is elected by the party’s presidency and it will take place in the summer.
“We are a big home. Everyone has their opinion, contribution, investment, sacrifice, and mistakes. Undoubtedly, I am also a part of that, but there is one thing that unites us; the determination to serve to this country and to the people”.
“One thing is clear; you have always had the responsibility and opportunity to decide who will lead and represent you. You’ve had that in the past and you’ll have it again very soon, but let me tell, that there are no extras in our home. Opinions, constructive ideas, and criticism are helpful and we must welcome them”, concluded Basha.
