During his appearance on Euronews Albania’s political commentary talk-show ‘Shock’, political analyst Andi Bushati said that Lulzim Basha’s silence regarding Berisha’s non-grata status, has given rise to controversy and a wow-effect amongst people from all over the political spectrum.

He argued that Basha has chosen the wrong approach and is playing what he called the ‘politics of vacuum’.

“Citizens have been waiting for a long time to get a reaction from Basha. I, personally believe he’s taking the wrong approach. Whoever leaves an empty spot will have it substituted by other personalities and other ideas. Basha is playing the politics of vacuum and that is simply wrong,” he said.

In fact, Bushati even brought up the metaphor of the ‘ostrich policy’ and said Basha is “playing the ostrich” and he’s trying to avoid facing his responsibilities, — something that according to him is unforgivable.

“Basha is hiding and playing the ostrich. He can pick whatever side he wants, but there can be no leader with the luxury to not pick a side. Leaders need to hold their stance; what he’s doing is unforgivable,” – said Bushati.

‘Basha is silently accepting the verdict of the Americans’

According to political analyst, Baton Haxhiu, the consciousness of representing the opposition allows Lulzim Basha to choose to think about what’s best for his party over defending Sali Berisha. According to him, Basha is silently accepting the verdict of the United States.

Haxhiu continued by saying that the Democratic leader does in fact have the courage to side with the US, but according to him, Basha has a responsibility to keep a strong opposition in the face of an ever-growing ruling majority.

“Should Basha keep quite regarding Berisha’s irresponsibility, or should he have the final word and destroy the opposition? – continued Haxhiu.

In addition, Haxhiu claimed that Basha’s current stance is a reasonable choice, which allows him to silently accept the decision of the United States, while protecting his party.
