“I am certain that Open Balkan is our road, our common road towards a common good”. These were the opening remarks made by PM Edi Rama during a joint conference with PM Albin Kurti in Prishtina, Kosovo.
During his word, Rama emphasized that there’s a clear distinction between nationalism and patriotism, by underlining that his and Kurti’s disagreement about the ‘Open Balkan’ initiative, is only political.
“Nationalism means wanting to see the other in a difficult position; patriotism means wanting the best for yourself. It is only natural that we share a disagreement on this with Albin, but these disagreements are of a political nature. Our relations are healthy and don’t get influenced by disagreements of this nature,” – said the Albanian head of state.
Rama also affirmed that the day Serbia recognizes Kosovo’s independence is simply inevitable.
“It is simply inevitable, that Serbia will one day ask for forgiveness, for its haunting war crimes in Kosovo. That day isn’t only sure to come, but it will also indefinitely seal the end of a difficult road towards peace”- said Rama.
