In the local by-elections on March 6, SMI (Socialist Movement for Integration) will be running in 6 municipalities, for both the municipal councils and the new mayors.
SMI has set up its electoral staff in all 6 municipalities, which will each be led by its own political coordinator.
This political party hasn’t officially declared any of its candidates but it has expressed its willingness to enter a coalition with Sali Berisha’s DP.
On Saturday, the Central Electoral Commission decided to set February 19 as the official date for the campaigns of the country’s local by-elections. Campaigns will last for 2 weeks before Election Day.
Parties wishing to participate in these by-elections will need to register before January 31.
Candidates for mayor in these municipalities have until February 9 to register in these elections.
