Bankers Petroleum Albania has decided to embark on a new journey by finding an alternative way to transport the oil that it extracts in Patos-Marinez.
Substituting heavy trucks with the Fier-Vlore train eliminates pollution and traffic while guaranteeing maximum security for oil exports.
The oil that is drilled from the wells of Patos Marinez will now be transported by train towards the Port of Petrolifera in Vlore.
Bankers Petroleum has confirmed the news that from now on, all of the raw oil that is meant to be sold as an export in the commodities market, will be moved by train and all heavy-duty trucks will be eliminated for good.
This decision comes at a time when Albanian company ABRAIL has finished its investment in the Fier-Vlore railway.
“We will continue transporting raw oil by train, without any stops on the way. As you know, our railway operates 24/7; we will load up the trains and send them over to the Petrolifere Port in Vlore, where they will be ready for export,” – said the CEO of ABRAIL, Dritan Spahiu.
This new mode of transportation will significantly reduce traffic congestion on the Fier-Vlore highway. According to the companies’ estimates, the transport of raw oil from the center in Fier to Petrolifera was made possible through the use of over 12,000 trucks per year – a number which from now on will be completely eliminated.
“Traffic has been reduced significantly. At the present moment, we have 1000 trains a year, compared to the previous 15 000 tankers. Another main benefit of this new method will be the reduction of air pollution caused by these heavy-duty tankers,” – added Spahiu.
Representatives of Bankers say that the company’s main goal wasn’t only cost reduction but most importantly, it was the reduction to a bare minimum of environmental pollution and its carbon footprint, while at the same time improving overall safety.
Bankers Petroleum Albania is the largest producer in our country, dominating over 90% of the total oil market in our country. The majority of this raw oil gets exported to foreign markets. The company has always been focused on investing in its services and introducing technologies that lower costs and pollution, while improving standards.
