Gert Shehu who is currently in jail pending trial, will be attending his first court hearing tomorrow December 9th.
Shehu is facing two separate charges after punching the Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha, during a protest on December 6th.
In addition to the psychological expertise, the prosecution has also requested a drug test for the 31-year-old.
In the second attempt to get a statement from him, the young man did not show any remorse for the action he had taken, but gave conflicting views on the motive.
He is being charged with assault against someone in the line of duty and causing bodily harm with intent.
The prosecution is expected to demand the arrest of the 31-year-old. Gert Shehu’s mother, in an exclusive interview for Euronews Albania, categorically denied the statements of the head of DP Sali Berisha that her son was a police agent or an infiltrator. She said that her son has been treated for bipolar disorder for the past 5 years, which was also confirmed for Euronews Albania by his doctor Sadik Lala.
