Journalist Lavdrim Lita said during his appearance on Euronews Albania’s ‘NOW with Erla Mehlli’ that the Albanian mafia is itself an importer of very large quantities of narcotics from Latin America after it gained the trust of the Italian Ndragheta and large suppliers in Latin America.

In addition, he revealed that the most-wanted Albanians are mainly hiding in Venezuela, a country with which Albania does not have an extradition agreement, therefore even if caught they can’t be extradited.

“91 % of the drugs imported from Latin America are invested in Europe, in businesses, construction or entertainment. The Albanian mafia has become an importer itself in Italy, Spain or the Netherlands, reaching the credibility of Ndragheta with which it cooperates or even the big suppliers in Latin America. Many wanted Albanians take refuge in Venezuela, or live in Venezuela, and during the day you find them in Ecuador or other countries because we do not have an extradition agreement with Venezuela,” said Lita.
