The Prosecutor’s Office of Tirana has ordered the verification of the audio transcribed by the journalist Artan Hoxha, regarding the communications made through the radios belonging to the Republic Guard on January 21, 2011, a protest during which 4 innocent citizens lost their lives.
The prosecuting authority announced that it has started investigations related to the verification of the evidence published by the journalist, while also emphasizing that in 2021 it has been decided to resume the investigations to discover the author of the murder of Aleks Nika and Hekuran Deda.
“In 2021, it has been decided to resume suspended investigations and carry out actions and an investigation with the aim of discovering the author of the murder of citizens A.N and H.D, for which the Court of the Judicial District of Tirana with decision No. 100, announced on 07.02.2013, decided the not guilty declaration of the defendant A. Ll, for committing the criminal offense of “Deliberate murder, committed against two or more persons”, with a direct consequence of the death of the deceased H.D.
It’s worth mentioning that in the audio and transcription published in the press, orders from former guard commander Ndrea Prendi to shoot at the protesters are heard clearly.
Meanwhile, for days now, the Socialist majority has been demanding that this matter be investigated by SPAK, asking Tirana’s Prosecutor’s Office to declare its lack of competence.
The first investigation into the January 21 murders led to Ndrea Prendi and Agim Llupo being taken as defendants.
The court assessed that the murders of Ziver Veiz, Faik Myrtaj and Hekuran Dedaj happened due to carelessness and sentenced the former commander of the Guard, Ndrea Prendi to one year in prison, as well as the guard Agim Llupo to 3 years of imprisonment.
