The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, considers January 21 a tragic event and a coup d’état to take power by force.

In a statement to the press from the party’s headquarters, Berisha said that at the time, the US wanted to investigate Edi Rama, as the organizer and author of the violence in the protest. According to him, Rama did not appear at the prosecutor’s office even though he was called to testify.

“January 21 is one of the most tragic events, an attempt at a coup d’état, a violent seizure of power by those whom I have denounced in time. The international community, and in particular the US government, has strongly insisted, during that period, that the organizers and perpetrators of the violence be investigated. Edi Rama is the main person, the organizer of the violence. Edi Rama never found the courage to appear at the prosecutor’s office, although he was called to testify. Criminal responsibility for organizing that violence will follow Edi Ramen all his life. He is proven as an organizer, in the most irrefutable way”, he emphasized.
