Twenty-eight candidates racing to become members of the National Bureau of Investigation have passed the last selection phase.
Following thorough examinations by the Special Committee for the Verification of Assets and Background, 9 out of 37 candidates did not fulfill the criteria.
The investigators will go through a training phase with various evaluation modules which they will need to pass prior to their certification.
The verification of security criteria took place under close scrutiny by the Independent Review Commission appointed by the diplomatic corps of the United States and the European Union to Albania.
The National Bureau of Investigation sometimes referred to as the Albanian FBI, is a part of the Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK) but it has not been established yet due to delays with the selection of its investigators.
Another recruiting process will be launched soon in order to achieve the necessary amount to establish NBI, more specifically 32 more investigators.
There is still no official date for the beginning of the application, with an announcement soon to be made on the official website.
