Former Chief of Traffic Police, Krenar Ahmeti, said that police officers in our country are underpaid.

During an interview for Euronews Albania, Ahmeti argued that someone gets a better salary from a job in the private sector, like truck driving.

According to him, if he was still a commissary at the State Police, today he would get a daily payment of 20 thousand ALL or around 15 euros, which is simply not enough.

“I’m glad I’m not because at the State Police, as a commissary, I would get 20 thousand ALL per day. There is no way I would sustain my family like that. Whoever tells you that he is providing for his family of 5 as a commissary, is simply lying to you. They are underpaid.  I can only provide for my family by being a free man. I get paid more as a truck driver,” – he said.
