Montenegro’s PM Dritan Abazovic held a meeting today with the country’s president Milo Dukanovic.

According to Montenegrin media outlets, the main topic of discussion was the adoption of a fundamental Agreement with the Orthodox Serbian Church and the political ramifications this could bring for the country.

The meeting ended and a press statement is expected to soon be released from both Abazovic and Dukanovic.

Montenegro is currently undergoing a new political crisis as a result of this agreement which regulates the state’s relations with the Serbian Orthodox Church, granting it jurisdiction over all Orthodox Churches in the country while also giving it much more authority than was previously the case.

Milo Dukanovic’s party has declared that the agreement hurts national interests which is why they have completely withdrawn their support for the Abazovic administration.

Abazovic’s administration could also face a motion of no-confidence as several allies have said they no longer support it either.

Abazovic has stated earlier that all options are on the table, including elections.

Meanwhile, many have already begun their protests against the government’s agreement with the Serbian Church.
