Three air-traffic controllers arrested around a week ago, accused as organizers of the protest that brought about the suspension of all flights in the Rinas airport, have appealed the judgment of the Albanian first instance court.
Through their defense lawyer, air traffic controllers have deposited this Wednesday, the request for a more lenient security measure.
Around a week ago, the Court of Tirana issued their judgment, sentencing the air traffic controllers Armando Fezga and Muhin Mezin to prison, while Flora Ndreca was given ‘house arrest’.
The pending allegations against them include abuse of office in collaboration. The prosecutor’s main evidence pertains to their phone records and according to the investigation file, all communications between the air traffic controllers in the WhatsApp social network, have been transcribed.
Based on the phone records, the investigators group have been able to prove that Flora Ndreca, Armando Fezga and Muhin Mezini have influenced other controllers to fill in the form of temporary incapability for work.
In certain cases, the prosecutor said that the suspects have filled in the form of incapability for their colleagues, whereas in the cases of the controllers that opposed them, they debated with them until they convinced them to sign.
