The head of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party, Enkelejd Alibeaj, in his speech at the joint meeting of the parliaments of Kosovo and Albania, underlined the fact that in every meeting with international partners, Kosovo, and the protection of its sovereignty and integrity, has been the motto of the DP.
Alibeaj said that DP, even though in complete disagreement with the current government in Tirana, has voted and supported without any dilemmas, all initiatives that are in support of or include the participation of Kosovo.
In addition, he emphasized the fact that DP will see Serbia only through the eyes of Kosovo and that it is against the Open Balkans initiative as a project that does not guarantee all-inclusivity.
“In support and at the service of the historical truth of the Albanians in Kosovo, we, as the Democratic Party, have filed in the Parliament of Albania, and we are still waiting for the review in the session of the Project-Resolution to condemn the Serbian Genocide in Kosovo. We continue our energetic objections to a project like the former Minishengen or Open Balkans, which was recently evaluated by the European Parliament in the enlargement strategy document with objectionable reservations, as incompatible with European norms and a project which does not guarantee inclusivity. Our objections to this project have continued, above all, because Kosovo never accepted it, that this was and remains a project that puts the issue of Kosovo and the role of Albanians in the Balkans on a doubtful and unclear path”, said Alibeaj.
